DAKHLA NOW
Is it the Uncle Sam's new strategic vision after he was forced to share the Middle East spot with Russia and the oil business there; is no longer having the same American attention? Many American officials have been coming to our region and there is some news that members of the American Republican Party are planning to visit Dakhla and Sahara in general. The United States has always been known as a curious seeker for resources in a world race against other powerful countries that have been the most serious threats on the American existence in the developing and underdeveloped countries.
Two months ago, in Dakhla, there was a confidential visit of a very high level official from Washington embassy in Rabat and he met with the pro-authority community, associations and councils’ members in order to give the same fake image of the reality to the American guest.
What was heard about these meetings is that the American official seeks to gather informations about the local economy, investments and the way the native population gets its benefit. He also, as some news said, went beyond the ordinary information and asked about several important issues which give an impression to be one of the main procedures before any American economic support for the region.
As usual, the American official was followed up by the local authority department in all his meetings or moves, however, the most important question to ask is : what is the secret beyond this American increasing attention to this region especially with the upcoming new American government which seems through its international moves that it has no good intentions towards Morocco or Moroccan attitudes about the Sahara conflict especially when a well experienced man as JOHN BOLTON is in charge.
According to Dakhla now and in the light of the recent American policy in the region , we assume that the American administration is seeking for exporting the American democracy and its notions of human rights though many institutes which will begin to appear permanently in the region. Who knows? May be the upcoming geostrategic map of the powerful countries forced the USA to fulfill the gaps of failure in the middle east by dominating north Africa and its sleeping bomb "western sahara" .... We will see.
